It was the best of times; it was the worst of times…
Yesterday, for another writing project, I began putting together a timeline of the last five years. It was a daunting task at first. How could I remember everything and place it all at the right dates?
I started by looking at my resume and figuring out where I was working and living each year. Then I placed events as I could remember them. Most stuff I could figure out from thinking about what else was going on at the time. I did get some help from Rob when I couldn’t remember exact dates. Finally, I worked on filling any gaps that were left.
It was quite interesting and a little scary. Somehow, when you’re living your life or even remembering it time seems to have a different flow. I was so wrapped up in making notes that I ended up tacking on major events from the ten years before that.
As I finished my first draft, I couldn’t help thinking that this is an important step towards writing a book. A book? Me? Um….I dunno, but I do plan to keep adding to my timeline.
